Someija & Waheed :: Afghan Wedding at Dreams Convention Centre

I had the pleasure of photographing Someija and Waheed’s wedding at the Dreams Convention Centre in Brampton this summer.

When we first met, Someija and Waheed described their wedding day as what sounded like a huge day of partying! It would be filled with lots of dancing, food, dancing, a tee-bit of wedding traditions and more dancing.  Although I wasn’t familiar with Afghan wedding traditions before, Someija and Waheed had complete faith that I could capture all the important moments and candid memories for them. Their big day finally arrived. As promised, their evening was planned in the way any gloriously epic wedding party should be: It began with the guests dancing, then the grand entrance of the couple in their traditional green wedding outfits followed by a catered buffet – so delicious! And I didn’t know rice could have so many flavours! After the buffet and more dancing, it was time for their traditional second entrance.  For this entrance, Someija wore an elegant white wedding gown handmade by her aunt. More dancing followed to celebrate the ring exchange, mehndi and a series of Afghan wedding traditions. They finished off the evening with cake-cutting and then… you guessed it! MORE DANCING!

Congratulations to Someija and Waheed!
Thank you for choosing me to be your photographer! <3
